1 in 6 children in Melbourne live below the poverty line. Your small act of kindness can make a big difference with Big Group Hug.
We are your local charity providing essential items for children aged newborn to 16 years in our community whose family are experiencing the effects of poverty, family violence and hardship, reducing the financial burden for families and freeing limited funds for food, bills, and safe housing.
How you can help
Give your preloved children’s items a second life with a child struggling with disadvantage. Big Group Hug graciously accepts donations of new or pre-loved goods for children aged between newborn and 16 years old. We humbly ask that you only donate items that are clean, in good, working condition, and comply with Australian safety standards.
Rule of thumb: Don’t donate something you wouldn’t be happy to receive yourself.

- Cots manufactured since 2014 (to Standard AS/NZS 2172:2003 (revised 2005)
- Car Seats, Capsules, and Booster Seats manufactured since 2016 (to Standard AS/NZS 1754)

We also have friendly volunteers accepting donations in their homes. To find one near you, check our map and email your preferred suburb to donategoods@biggrouphug.org and one of our friendly volunteers will provide you with the contact information for that Drop Off Point.
