We are delighted to share that we have opened a hub in Tarneit. This initiative aims to bring the community together to support vulnerable children and families in the rapidly growing western corridor of Melbourne.
The hub is supported by Wyndham City Council and will operate weekly on Thursdays for donations of new and pre-loved children’s items. The hub marks a significant step in expanding our reach to areas with growing needs. Data4Good research indicates that the west of Melbourne presents an opportunity to sow the seeds of support for the community.
Initially, the Tarneit hub will focus on collecting donations from the generous community in the west of Melbourne. Residents are encouraged to bring in their pre-loved children’s items such as clothing, toys, books, and other necessities such as cots, bassinets and prams for children aged newborn to 16 years.
Our success relies on the dedication of volunteers, and we’re calling on the community of Tarneit to join in this collective effort. Volunteers will play a crucial role in managing and organising donations, and fostering a sense of unity and care within the community.
“We are thrilled to be bringing our service to the City of Wyndham, sharing our mission with the people of Tarneit and surrounding areas,” said Bernadene Voss, CEO. “By starting with donations and involving the community, we hope to lay the groundwork for a sustained effort that will make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families in the area for years to come. 2024 marks 10 years of Big Group Hug and what better way to celebrate this milestone than growing into the west of Melbourne.“
