In a heartwarming display of community spirit Lily D’Ambrosio and the volunteers of BAPS Charities made a special donation of blankets to Big Group Hug.
Lily D’Ambrosio has been the member for the Mill Park District since 2002. She is currently serving as the Minister for Energy & Resources, Minister for Climate Action and the Minister for the State Electricity Commission in the Andrews Labor Government.
The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and its sister organization, BAPS Charities, work together to help those in need. Their humanitarian efforts aim to address real problems with real solutions. They lead initiatives with the aim of making a positive impact in the lives of those who need aid.
BAPS Charities volunteers raised funds to purchase blankets for Big Group Hug recipients after hearing stories of children doing it tough. They visited our new home in Thomastown on 24 August with Lily D’Ambrosio, to deliver these much-needed blankets. The donation of blankets symbolises more than just warmth; they represent the BAPS community’s commitment to helping those in need.

“It is wonderful to see the leaders of our wider community paying attention – the children and families we help are really doing it tough and every bit of generosity is so welcomed ” said Bernadene Voss, CEO.
During their visit, Lily D’Ambrosio and BAPS Charities volunteers learned more about the families we help and another pressing need within the community – the lack of teenage boy items.
Responding to this newfound knowledge, Lily made a commitment to address this issue and later in the day, returned to Big Group Hug with a personal contribution of items specifically targeted at teenage boys.
Lily also dropped by again later in the week with a much-needed double pram – so incredibly generous – and we welcome every ounce of support in addressing the increasing need of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families.
This thoughtful gesture not only demonstrates her dedication to her constituents and the power community leaders can have to effect positive change.
We are so grateful to BAPS Charities and Lily D’Ambrosio for their support.
